The Paul Green School of Rock, the original performance-based music school, has opened its first location in Buckhead Atlanta, Georgia. Employing the very best performing musicians, the School of Rock – Atlanta uses Paul Green’s notorious methodology to teach students ages 8 through 18 the essentials to become excellent musicians themselves.

“With more than 30 schools nationwide, we are excited to bring a School of Rock to the future musicians of Atlanta. We are grateful for the warm welcome and support we have already received from the community,” says Justin Nihiser, General Manager of the School of Rock – Atlanta.

Currently enrolling students for the spring and summer seasons, the School of Rock – Atlanta operates with an open, rolling admissions process with three series a year. Each series culminates with the students performing a live rock show at a local music venue. During the series, students have weekly 45-minute private lessons with the instrument of their choice and 3-hour supervised rehearsals to prepare them for the live show, which is centered on a theme that delves into the catalogs of certain artists, styles and periods of rock music. Past student shows include: Pink Floyd's The Wall; Led Zeppelin; Van Halen; AC/DC; Best of the 80s; Punk Rock; Devo; Frank Zappa; and Queen. Payment for the school is based on monthly tuition.

“The combination of private lessons with skilled musicians that have real life experience and group band practice with peers has proven to be an ideal way to motivate and inspire kids,” says Greg Lee, one of the most recognized musicians in Atlanta and Music Director of the school.

“We are also going to host rock classes, open jams, and seminars that are free to our students. And, will have music industry experts and professional, touring musicians regularly come to the school to meet, talk and jam with the students,” adds Nihiser.

School of Rock – Atlanta’s spring season runs from February through April 2008 and is now open for student enrollment. The summer season begins June 2, 2008. School of Rock – Atlanta summer camp programs will be announced soon. The school is located at 321 Pharr Road, Atlanta, Georgia, 30305. Visit or call 404.218.3105 for more information.

About The Paul Green School of Rock
The Paul Green School of Rock is the original and premier performance-based rock music school in the country for kids 8-18. Founded on Green’s original program of weekly, individualized instruction sessions augmented by rigorous group rehearsals, the Paul Green School of Rock effectively motivates students to practice—driven by frequent performances where they discover that how hard they work leads directly to applause, the most beautiful music of all. Each year, the 34 School of Rock branches around the country give more than 1,000 concerts at established venues including The Whiskey, BB King’s and Carnegie Hall and at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Zappanale and the first ever SORFest (‘07). The School’s All-Stars have performed with Alice Cooper, Eddie Vedder and Perry Farrell, among others, and have toured with Jon Anderson of Yes as his featured back-up band. Founded in 1998, the Paul Green School of Rock Music was the subject of the documentary Rock School, which regularly airs on A&E since its debut at Sundance in 2005. The School also served as the apparent inspiration for the Jack Black hit comedy, School of Rock. Currently in a period of rapid expansion, the Paul Green School of Rock plans to open in more than 60 locations by end of 2008.
