WAR THE BAND to Headline 5th Annual Fiesta Atlanta 2011

/PRNewswire/ -- Lanza Group, LLC announced today that WAR THE BAND will headline the 5th annual Fiesta Atlanta on Sunday, May 1st at Centennial Olympic Park. The southeast's largest Cinco de Mayo celebration set in the heart of Atlanta also features local and national Latin talent.

An American original; WAR was the first and most successful musical crossover phenomenon that forever fused rock, jazz, Latin, and R&B; a musical melting pot and an enduring influence that has sold nearly 25 million records to date. WAR has been honored with 17 gold, platinum or multi-platinum awards which include the triple platinum "The World is a Ghetto," double platinum "Why Can't We Be Friends?" and "Greatest Hits," just to name a few.

The music lineup for Fiesta Atlanta also features a variety of local and national recording artists, with salsa, Regional Mexican and traditional Mexican Mariachi. The main stage opens at 10 a.m. with performances by Mariachi Pepe Lopez and rock group Tiger! Tiger! Two Miami-based groups will also perform, with Local 34 bringing a tropical influence to their upbeat Spanish rock and Bachaco will play a unique fusion of reggae and cumbia. Special guest this year is Edwin Reyes and Orquesta Con Clase, a salsa band whose members include Savannah, GA active duty soldiers, recently returned home from tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Fiesta Atlanta, is the Southeast's largest Cinco de Mayo celebration, a free, daylong festival that includes live Latin music on two stages, featuring national and local recording artists. The children's stage lineup includes lively, colorful acts including Mexican folkloric dancers, clowns, musicians and storytellers. Artists will be selling handmade traditional crafts while vendors will be selling delicious Latin foods. The festival's partners will provide product samples and many, fun and interactive displays.
