Adam Schoenberg’s World-Premiere Fanfare, Up!, To Be Featured on Program


Frequent guest artist and friend of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Emanuel Ax, will return to Atlanta to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with Music Director Robert Spano and the Orchestra. The program will also include the world premiere of Adam Schoenberg’s fanfare Up!, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D major, “Titan.” Performances will take place September 30 – October 2, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. at Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Adam Schoenberg’s Up! is the second of 10 fanfares to be premiered throughout the Orchestra’s 2010-11 season in celebration of the 10-year artistic partnership of Robert Spano and Donald Runnicles, and 10 years of the Atlanta School of Composers. Other contributors will include Atlanta School of Composers members Jennifer Higdon and Michael Gandolfi, as well as Robert Spano and friends of the Orchestra, such as Alvin Singleton.
